The Department of Chemistry presented 4 PhD Graduands during the 71st Graduation Ceremony 3 of whom were ladies i.e. Dr. Nantaba Florence whose research focused on Occurance, Eco-toxicological Risk Assessment, Sorption and Degradation Kinetics of Selected Emerging Organic Chemical Pollutants ii Water and Sediments of Lake Victoria, Uganda; Dr. Masilla Veronica Mutindi, her research looked at Synthesis, Anti-Plasmodial and Anti-Microbial Properties of Carvotacetone Analogues; while Dr. Adia Madina focused on Antiplasmodial, Toxicity and Phytochemistry of Selected Plant Species Used by Rukararwe and Prometra Herbalists in Treatment of Malaria in Uganda. Dr. Solomon Yiga was the only male graduand presented by the department and his research concetrated on Synthesis, Catalysis and Nitrosyl Derivatives of Iron(II) Complexes Bearing Pentadentate Polypyridyl Ligands.
